The Anchor and the Abyss – Finding Stillness in the Unknown

⚓ The Anchor and the Abyss – Finding Stillness in the Unknown

Happy February 19th!

We are moving through the final stretch of February, a month that often feels like a bridge between the deep winter and the first hints of spring. Today is Iwo Jima Day, marking a moment of incredible historical resilience, and it is also National Lash Day.

This might seem like a strange pairing, but it offers a beautiful metaphor for our self-love journey: the strength of our foundations (The Anchor) and the clarity of our vision (The Lash). In this month of Love and Black History, we also honor the anniversary of the birth of Abram Harris, a pioneering Black economist who taught us the importance of understanding the structures that support—or hinder—our growth.

1. The Iwo Jima Principle: Planting Your Flag (Purpose)

The iconic image associated with this day is the raising of the flag—a symbol of persistence and a claim of ground. In your own life, self-love requires you to "plant your flag" on the values and boundaries that define your Purpose.

🔑 The Action: The Grounding Ritual

Identify one value that is non-negotiable for you this year (e.g., Honesty, Peace, Creative Freedom).

Self-Love Tip (Purpose): Physically "plant" this flag. Write that word on a piece of paper and put it somewhere you see every morning. When life feels chaotic, look at that word and remember: This is the ground I stand on.

The Goal: Resilience isn't about being bulletproof; it's about knowing exactly what you are fighting for. When your purpose is clear, you become an anchor in the storm.

2. National Lash Day: Clarifying Your Vision

The purpose of eyelashes isn't just aesthetic; they are protectors. They keep the dust out so you can see clearly. Today is a day to "clear the dust" from your perspective so you can see your own worth.

🔑 The Action: The Vision Filter

Look in the mirror today and, instead of scanning for "flaws," focus on what your eyes have seen.

Self-Love Tip (Pleasure): Think of three beautiful things you’ve witnessed this month. By focusing on what you perceive rather than how you are perceived, you shift from being an object to a subject.

Black History Connection: We honor thinkers like Abram Harris, who looked past the "dust" of economic theories to see the underlying social realities. He used his vision to advocate for structural change. Use your vision today to see the truth of your own progress.

3. The Structural Check-up: Nourishing Your Drive

Just as Harris studied the "circulating" energy of the economy, we must look at the circulating energy of our own lives. If you are pouring energy out but not receiving it back, your "structure" will eventually collapse.

🔑 The Action: The Energy Exchange Audit

Look at your three most frequent interactions (people or tasks). Do they "recharge" you or "drain" you?

Self-Love Tip (Passion): If a structure in your life is draining you, give yourself permission to "refinance" your time. Spend 15 minutes less on a drain and 15 minutes more on a recharge.

The Result: When you understand the "economics" of your own energy, you can invest more heavily in your Passion.

This February 19th, stand firm on the ground you’ve won. Protect your vision from the dust of doubt, and ensure your internal structures are built to support your expansion.

What is the one value you are "planting your flag" on today?
