The Dreamer & The Icon – Defining Your Own Standard

🎀 The Dreamer & The Icon – Defining Your Own Standard

Happy March 9th!

We are officially in the post-International Women's Day glow. Today is a day that celebrates the power of the "unconventional." It is National Barbie Day (marking the doll's debut in 1959), a day to reflect on how we perceive femininity and play. It is also National Get Over It Day, a much-needed nudge to release the heavy baggage of the past.

And for a sweet, crunchy finish, it is National Meatball Day and National Crabmeat Day.

Today’s theme is Self-Definition. Whether you are breaking out of a "box" (like Barbie) or letting go of an old grudge, today is about deciding who you want to be on your own terms.

1. The Barbie Lesson: Breaking the Mold (Passion)

When Barbie debuted, she was the first "adult" doll for children, representing the idea that a woman could be anything—from an astronaut to a surgeon. While she has been debated for decades, her core message remains: You are not limited to one role.

🔑 The Action: The "Career Closet" Play

Think about a version of yourself you’ve been afraid to explore because it doesn't fit your "current brand."

Self-Love Tip (Passion): "Try on" that identity today. If you've always wanted to be a writer, write 200 words. If you want to be a hiker, look up a trail.

Women’s History Connection: We honor Ruth Handler, the woman who co-founded Mattel and created Barbie. She saw a gap in the world and filled it with her own vision, proving that Passion is the best architect for a new reality.

The Goal: Don't let society—or your own past—keep you in a box. You are allowed to be a "limited edition" original every single day.

2. National Get Over It Day: The Weightless Walk (Purpose)

This is the day for "strategic forgetting." We often carry old embarrassments, minor slights, or "should-have-dones" like heavy stones in our pockets. They don't help us walk; they only make us tired.

🔑 The Action: The Trash-Can Ceremony

Identify one small resentment or "cringe" memory you’ve been replaying lately.

Self-Love Tip (Purpose): Visualize yourself putting that memory in a box and walking away. Say it out loud: "I am over it." * The Result: Forgiveness isn't always about the other person; it's about clearing your own "internal hard drive" so you have space for your Purpose. When you drop the weight, you can finally run.

3. The Savory Savor: Substantial Comfort (Pleasure)

National Meatball Day reminds us that sometimes the most satisfying things in life are simple, round, and hearty. It’s about "comfort food" that sticks to your ribs and warms your soul.

🔑 The Action: The Hearty Indulgence

Seek out a "substantial" comfort today.

Self-Love Tip (Pleasure): Forget the "light" salad or the "quick" snack. Sit down for a meal that feels like a hug—whether it's actual meatballs or just a long, deep conversation with a friend.

The Goal: High-level Pleasure is often found in the things that feel solid and real. Give yourself permission to be "full"—of food, of love, and of life.

"My whole philosophy of Barbie was that through the doll, the little girl could be anything she wanted to be." Ruth Handler

This March 9th, "Get Over" the things that hold you back and "Try On" the things that make you feel powerful. You are the creator of your own icon status.

What is one thing you are officially "Getting Over" today to make room for your future?
