The Current of Compassion – Drifting Into Your Power

🌊 The Current of Compassion – Drifting Into Your Power

Happy March 2nd!

We are officially two days into Women’s History Month, and today offers a beautiful blend of whimsy and deep, structural reflection. It is Read Across America Day (celebrated on the birthday of Dr. Seuss) and World Teen Mental Health Day. It also marks the anniversary of the 1955 arrest of Claudette Colvin, a 15-year-old who refused to give up her seat on a bus in Montgomery, nine months before Rosa Parks.

Today’s theme is The Brave Voice. Whether it’s the lyrical imagination of a book or the revolutionary "No" of a teenager, today is about the power of speaking your truth—and the compassion required to listen to your own needs along the way.

1. The Claudette Colvin Lesson: The Power of "No" (Purpose)

At just 15, Claudette Colvin acted on her Purpose before the world was ready to back her. She reminds us that leadership doesn't have an age requirement, and "Self-Love" often looks like standing your ground when everything feels uncomfortable.

🔑 The Action: The Boundary Proclamation

Identify one situation where you are saying "Yes" out of habit, but your soul is saying "No."

Self-Love Tip (Purpose): Practice a "Colvin Moment." You don't have to be loud to be firm. A quiet, steady "I am not comfortable with this" is a revolutionary act of self-care.

The Goal: Integrity is the foundation of your Purpose. When you protect your personal space, you make room for your destiny to sit down.

2. Read Across America: Expanding Your Mind (Passion)

Books are "portable magic." On this day of literacy, we celebrate the stories that helped us escape and the ones that helped us find ourselves.

🔑 The Action: The Bibliotherapy Session

Find 15 minutes today to read something that has nothing to do with your job or your "to-do" list.

Self-Love Tip (Passion): Read a poem, a page of a novel, or an essay by a woman who inspires you. Let the words "re-read" your soul and spark a new Passion.

The Result: Innovation requires new input. By reading outside your immediate bubble, you feed the creative fire that keeps you excited about your life.

3. Teen Mental Health: The Compassion of the "Inner Teen"

World Teen Mental Health Day is a vital reminder to check in on the most vulnerable versions of ourselves. We all have an "inner teenager"—that part of us that feels misunderstood, rebellious, or deeply sensitive.

🔑 The Action: The Emotional Check-In

If you could talk to your 15-year-old self today, what would you say to comfort them?

Self-Love Tip (Pleasure): Give yourself what your teen self needed most. Maybe it’s a favorite snack, a loud sing-along in the car, or just the permission to be "messy" without judgment.

The Goal: Healing your mental health is a lifelong journey of Pleasure and patience. Being kind to your current self is the best way to honor the version of you that survived the teenage years.

"I knew then and I know now, when it comes to justice, there is no easy way to get it. You can't imagine it then, but it's something you fight for." Claudette Colvin

This March 2nd, be the author of your own story and the defender of your own peace. Read deeply, speak firmly, and treat your mental health with the radical compassion it deserves.

What is one "No" you will stand by today to protect your inner peace?
