The Courage of the First Word – Breaking the Silence
🎙️ The Courage of the First Word – Breaking the Silence
Happy March 5th!
We are moving through the first week of Women’s History Month, and today is a day that honors the power of documentation and the bravery of being "the first." It is the anniversary of the 1770 Boston Massacre, a pivotal moment in history recorded and spread by the power of the press. It is also National Multiple Personality Day (which we often interpret as the day to honor the many "versions" of ourselves) and National Cheese Doodle Day.
But most significantly for our journey of empowerment, it marks the anniversary of the death of Crispus Attucks, but also the birth of Enid Blyton, and the legacy of women like Mary Church Terrell, who fought for the "First Word" in rooms where they weren't invited.
Today’s theme is The Multi-Faceted Self. It’s about accepting all your layers—the activist, the dreamer, the professional, and the snack-lover—and finding the courage to speak for all of them.
1. The Multi-Faceted Self: Honoring Your "Internal Crowd"
National Multiple Personality Day is often used in the self-growth world as a day to recognize that we are not just one thing. You are the resilient child you once were, the ambitious professional you are now, and the peaceful elder you are becoming.
🔑 The Action: The "Role" Roll Call
List three different "versions" of yourself (e.g., The Creative Risk-Taker, The Practical Protector, The Playful Soul).
Self-Love Tip (Purpose): Give each version a "seat at the table" today. If the "Protector" has been running the show too long, let the "Creative" pick tonight’s activity.
The Goal: Harmony comes from integration, not suppression. When you love all your "parts," you stop fighting yourself and start leading yourself with Purpose.
2. The Power of the Record: Writing Your Own History
Just as the events of March 5th, 1770, were etched into history through the written word, your own life deserves a record. If you don't write your story, someone else will define your legacy for you.
🔑 The Action: The Legacy Entry
Write down one thing you did this week that you are genuinely proud of, no matter how small.
Self-Love Tip (Passion): Treat your personal wins like "Breaking News." Documentation turns a fleeting moment of Passion into a permanent foundation of confidence.
Women’s History Connection: We honor women like Mary Church Terrell, one of the first African American women to earn a college degree, who used her voice and her pen to record the struggle for suffrage and civil rights. She knew that the "First Word" belongs to the one who writes it down.
3. Cheese Doodle Wisdom: The Joy of the "Orange Fingers"
National Cheese Doodle Day is the perfect reminder that life doesn't always have to be sophisticated or "Pinterest-perfect" to be delightful. Sometimes, the best Pleasure is messy, nostalgic, and a little bit ridiculous.
🔑 The Action: The Unfiltered Indulgence
Do something today purely because it’s fun, even if it’s "unproductive" or "unrefined."
Self-Love Tip (Pleasure): Eat the snack, watch the "guilty pleasure" show, or dance in your kitchen. Let yourself be messy.
The Goal: If you only allow yourself "refined" pleasures, you miss out on the raw joy of being human. Self-love is the ability to enjoy the "Cheese Doodle" moments of life without a side of guilt.
"Properly trained, a woman can do everything." Mary Church Terrell
This March 5th, celebrate the crowd within you. Record your victories, speak your first words of truth, and don't be afraid to get your hands a little "messy" in the pursuit of joy.
Which "version" of yourself needs a little more attention and love today?
